It's pretty fun to jump on a guys head and bite it off only to see his comrades scream in horror. I think you'll like all the extra moves because they add a bit of variety to the game. Almost every Metal Slug review I read complained that the game's continue system made the game nearly impossible to complete. Which I think is much better than the near-impossible challenge presented by Metal Slug 3. Regardless, if you try to play straight through from beginning to end(not using the load level option) the game will present a good challenge. It's almost as if they expect you to die a ton so they make up for it by giving you a bunch of extra lives. But for whatever reason you get another continue for every level you pass.

Now, if only friday would come sooner so that I can actually play Alien Hominid.Īs for the difficulty, you will die, a lot. well they're in different realms! But, indeed, I'm digging the look of the game. Lastly, when you compare the art style of Metal Slug to Alien Hominid.
Metal slug alien series#
All I have to say is that even Metal Slug 5 (the weakest in the series in my opinion, but still a great game) ran with a smooth framerate and was glitch free. I've also heard that the game was kinda glitchy and the framerate was a bit choopy (the latter not being that big a deal according to reviews). the pinnacle of 2D shooters (ever played it?) to be better than the Metal Slug series, it will have to be better than Metal Slug 3.

I play one game in the series maybe once a week. I'm sure it'll be refreshing, since too much Metal Slug can get repetitive. The simplicity and difficulty, along with the art style is what makes Metal Slug great. 8 directions and 3 buttons should be all you need. That's what killed Metal Slug 5 for me when they added the slide move. I bet it's gonna be great, but better than metal slug? From what I've seen so far of Alien Hominid it looks like it might be a bit easy when compared to Metal Slug 3. I've all ready ordered it should get it on friday.
Metal slug alien ps2#
Do yourself a favor and pick it up for PS2 or GameCube for a mere $30. By pushing the L/R buttons, your alien also has the ability to roll under bullets or backflip away from danger.ĢD, side-scrollers don't come along very often and this one is excellent. You can still be killed by grenades or by getting run over by vehicles/bosses. However, burrowing doesn't make you completely invunerable. Sometimes, during boss battles you'll be forced to burrow underground to avoid undodgeable attacks.

You can also burrow into the ground to avoid attacks and reach up and pull enemies under to defeat them. You can jump on the enemy's heads and ride them around, bite their heads off, or pick them up and throw them in eight directions. The gameplay is very similar to Metal Slug though you're alien character has a few more abilities. I've made it to level 14 of 16 playing straight through. Though if you wish you can attempt to beat the game straight through from start to finish, and it's reasonably possible. If you like, once you've exhausted all your continues, you can start again from any level you've previously reached and continue from there. If you use a continue you won't be forced to go back to the beginning of the level, like in Metal Slug. I just like the style more.Īlso, the game's continue system is fair. It has more levels(16 of them), more extras(5 minigames, including one that contains 201 levels), and what I think are better graphics, though this is purely a matter of taste. It borrows quite a bit from Metal Slug, though, personally, I think it's a better game. The graphics are vastly improved and all the levels are completely new. It originally started as a flash game but has been fleshed out for the consoles.
